AZALEA NEWSLETTER
December/January 23/24

From Ms. Nigh,
Sports: Girls Basketball is off to a great start and our 8th-grade team remains undefeated. Wrestling is also doing an amazing job, as we hosted a home meet in the high school gym. Our cheerleaders had the opportunity to come to support our basketball players last Thursday and did a fantastic job fostering school spirit.

Azalea’s band not only supported our football team but is now in our gym at every home basketball game, showing
school spirit and impressing us with their musical talent. We are proud of all our students' hard work and dedication!

Keep Up Club
This new program continues to grow. The Keep Up Club is providing students additional support on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays. Teachers have dedicated additional time to work with students after school from 3:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are looking for parent volunteers who are willing to come in and work with students and teachers.
Volunteers must be approved through the district.

Students at Azalea Middle School were recognized for their academic achievements through an Honor Roll
system that acknowledges their exceptional performance and dedication. One hundred twenty students received Honor Roll certificates for their first quarter grades at our assembly on 12/1/23. We would like to acknowledge and appreciate our community and parent support. Only through this partnership and support can our students continue to succeed.

We would like to invite families and our community to come and celebrate with us for our semester Honor Roll celebrationFriday, February 2nd at 2:00 pm.

December is HumanRights Month
The 10th of December 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of one of the world's most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. The Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 and sets out, for the first time,
fundamental human rights to be universally protected (United Nations). We are committed to providing a caring, friendly, and safe environment for all our Students. We encourage open communication at school by taking time to talk to students about their day, listening actively, and providing a safe space for them to express their thoughts and concerns. All incidents will be treated seriously, and appropriate action will be taken. Your student can fill out an incident report at any time or report it to an adult. If a student reports concerns at home, please reach out to Mr. Bennett or myself so we can address the concerns immediately. We appreciate your continued partnership and support.

Future Newsletters will be available through email and posted on our
school website.

Thank you,
Vickie Nigh, Principal
Matt Bennett, Vice Principal
