May 28, 2020 Superintendent's Message - Wrapping Up the Academic Year

Greetings Brookings-Harbor School District Families,

I hope this message finds you all doing well. I wanted to inform you of some upcoming dates and details as the end of the year approaches.

Students will not be assigned any new distance learning after June 4. Students will, however, be expected to complete outstanding assignments specific to their grade. Please watch for details from your principal about completing these learning plans. It is particularly imperative that our high school students work with their teachers to complete essential learnings in each course by the end of the day on June 17 to earn credit.

Our district has issued almost 900 Chromebooks to families during distance learning. Your child’s principal and staff will be communicating to you specifically on how that technology is to be returned.

We will continue to provide food pick up in the high school parking lot on Tuesdays and Fridays through June 16.

I know you are all wondering about what school will look like in the fall after the summer break. We too are waiting patiently for this information so we can prepare to provide a quality education for all our students.

Be safe and take care.

Chris Eberhardt, Superintendent

Chris Eberhardt, Superintendente

Additional Distance Learning for All Resources & Background

In accordance with the most recent Governor's Order (Executive order 20-20), Oregon's schools cannot offer K-12 in-person learning until after June 30. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic will have the final say on when schools can start holding regular classes again. Brookings-Harbor School District Distance Learning for All has been in session since April 13.

Grade level teacher teams have created digital and/or paper packets for students. Teachers also meet with students in Google Hangout 2x per week and RTIi (reading) and Special Education Staff meet with Kinder students in small reading groups 2-3x per week depending on the student and need.
