A district-wide curriculum adoption committee, made up of K-12 educators and administrators, is proposing the adoption of the following texts by the Brookings-Harbor School District, to be used as core curriculum in the classroom starting in the 2023-2024 academic year:
- Savvas enVision A/G/A (2024) for Secondary Grades 9-12
- Savvas enVision Mathematics (2024) for Secondary Grades 6-8
- Houghton Mifflin Harcourt: Into Math (2020)/Waggle K-8 for Elementary Grades K-5
- Curriculum Associates iReady Classroom (2024)
The committee began the process of considering new Mathematics curriculum materials in Fall of 2022. The selection process included consideration of publisher information, independent reviews by national teams of educators, aligning the materials with the grade level standards, and, our teachers piloting and using the materials in our classrooms.
A sample set of textbooks and teacher guides for each curriculum set are currently on display at the Brookings-Harbor School District office, 629 Easy Street, Brookings, Oregon, 97415. These can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until noon Wednesday, May 17th. If you are able to review the materials, we invite you to provide written feedback using the forms available at the District Office. Online comments can be submitted here.
The English Language Arts K-12 curriculum adoption committee will present to the BHSD School Board of Directors during its work session meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in the Kalmiopsis Elementary School Room 51. The meeting will also be available for viewing via livestream on the BHSD Youtube Channel.
