Notification of COVID-19/Confirmed Coronavirus Case in BHSD

BHSD was notified by Curry County Public Health that there has been a confirmed exposure of COVID-19 to Kalmiopsis Elementary School. In-person instruction for grades Kindergarten through Third Grade will be canceled starting Monday, Sept. 21. / Hoy, el Distrito Escolar de Brookings-Harbor fue notificado por Salud Pública de la exposición de COVID-19 a la Escuela Primaria Kalmiopsis. En este momento, se ha contactado a dos personas y están aisladas en casa. Trabajamos en estrecha colaboración con Salud Pública para tomar medidas de prevención adicionales. La instrucción en persona para los grados de jardín de infantes a tercer grado se cancela a partir del lunes 21 de septiembre.

Superintendent's Update (Aug. 31, 2020): What's new in health and safety and instruction for Fall 2020

We are looking forward to getting our schools reopened this school year. We have incorporated a wide range of measures to keep all students and staff healthy and safe. While the start of this school year will look different, our focus is to ensure that school continues to be a positive, safe, friendly, and welcoming place for all students. While we know there will be challenges, by working together we can positively and successfully support our students’ growth and learning.

Update on state and county metrics for school reopening

Under a special exemption that uses a different set of metrics that must be met for grades Kindergarten through 3rd Grade, Curry County remains on track for BHSD to begin the year with a hybrid of in-person half days and distance learning for Grades K-3, with the first classroom day on Friday, Sept. 11
